The Laser Hair Removal Protocol is a safe and effective way to eliminate unwanted hair from your face or body. However, as with any procedure, there are some steps you can take both before and after your treatments to ensure the best effectiveness and the fewest potential complications.

Before your scheduled Laser Hair Removal treatments, attempt to avoid tanning or especially sun-burning the areas to be treated. While tanning and sunburns are always tough on your skin, they can decrease the effectiveness of the treatment or even cause unnecessary discomfort.

Second Life is a popular virtual reality game. According to Red Herring, Second Life has more than 1.6 million users, who "generate more than $650,000 each day through the sale of digital goods, a virtual economy that has made it possible for many to make a living solely through the creation and sale of virtual goods."
Red Herring also says that Second Life now has its first virtual millionaire, a dealer in virtual real estate. You will not be surprised to find out that she is a Chinese woman.
Hubei-born Ailin Graef, known in Second Life as Anshe Chung, runs her virtual real estate agency, Anshe Chung Studios, with her husband Guntram Graef. They offer land and houses in places like Dreamland Asia, the Mainland, Gothica, and Furries.

Beauty Enigmatic Artworks

So you've got some time on your hands and you want to look at art – lots and lots of art. There may be no better place to satisfy your craving than the Enigmatic Artworks gallery, which currently hosts some 20 painters and photographers. Situated on the new Infamy sim (32, 213, 40) which opened in October, the gallery is managed by Amie Collingwood, with building and scripting supplied by Whisker Ophelia and Kumiko Takashi. The three also jointly own the sim.
More than 400 people stopped by for the gala opening of the sim's second exhibition, titled “Infamy” on November 14, buying about L$15,000 worth of art. (Amie said that this was actually a low figure for exhibitions she's held, but attributed it to the ongoing copybot scare.) Music was provided for the evening by Doubledown Tandino.

Amie said she got her start in SL about a year ago, after reading a business magazine article about it. She was intrigued by the "open and creative format," but said it was some months before she began to act on her desire for a creative outlet. "I have no programming skills, don't consider myself a builder at all, so I wondered how I could express myself here. I started taking in-world photographs. A couple of artists caught my work and thought I had a natural talent. But what really took off for me here was to use my RL skills of business and networking. I decided to try to enable the talent of others."

She began by buying land and hosting a gallery for SL pixie artist Phinn Boffin, and later was asked by Whisker to take over management of the original Enigmatic Artworks gallery (begun by Enigma Lazarno) in Plush Gamma sim. "But we experienced so much difficulty and lag, particularly on exhibition nights, that we decided to buy a sim and design it specifically to showcase the gallery," Amie said. “What is the point of having an exhibition with several hundred guests if they cannot even see the art?"

The Infamy sim is particularly intriguing because of its deliberate low-lag design. The sim is three-quarters water, with three islands, to concentrate prim usage. The main island consists entirely of the EA gallery, which has virtually no windows, so those on the outside don’t have to rezz the art, while those on the inside don’t need to rezz the whole sim. The gallery entrance is via a bridge below the exhibit floor, to block the view of the art even from the entrance. Finally, because there is so much high-resolution art inside the gallery, "which could be a lag nightmare," Amie insists that it be produced to high quality standards, with low digital image noise.

The design of the Enigmatic Arts gallery is simple and modern, with a basic stone texture that keeps the focus on the artwork, and a well scripted central elevator. A central open atrium gives a view of several floors at once, and makes it easier to tour by camera view. The gallery even includes a photo studio and workspace for artists, and uses a server-based system to provide information on each artist in the gallery, as well as to automatically update exhibition posters throughout SL. The second island hosts Phinn Boffin's art gallery and Whisker & Kumiko's Infamous Designs enterprise. The third island is being developed by Kumiko as a Japanese themed area, with plans for pageants and battles. "Whisker and Kumiko are truly master designers, builders, and scripters," said Amie. "None of this would be possible without them."

At the main gallery, according to Amie, "our focus is first and foremost the artists,” and that is certainly reflected not only in the careful design but in the process for involving artists and keeping the art on the walls fresh. Amie interviews each potential artist and reviews their portfolio with them. "We are open, but try to be selective as to quality and style," she notes. (The gallery does not display erotica, however.) Selected resident artists are hosted on the upper six floors and can rotate their art as they desire.

The first floor is devoted to a monthly themed exhibition. "I meet with the resident artists and they select a theme. For example, October was Insomnia, this month was Infamy. The artists then work on original pieces specific to the theme and have about two weeks to submit their work to me. I review it and make selections, as we usually get more work than can be displayed. The artists decide the price they want to sell at, or if they just want to display, and they decide if it will be a one-of-a-kind offering or copies."

Most of the artists that EA hosts come to them, Amie says, but she also visits galleries and participates in a couple of the largest SL arts groups: Creatives, Artists and Musicians and the Artists/Photographers Association. The gallery takes a 20 percent commission on art that is sold, to help offset the costs of the sim, and in the hopes of eventually breaking even. Profit is not a goal. Amie said her interest is motivated by a love of the arts, and the "satisfaction in seeing others flourish or be given a chance that they didn't have."

Asked to comment on the SL arts scene, Amie noted that "I see highly professional and established artists who exhibit in RL now importing their work here. It presents another outlet for them. However, what I find particularly interesting are new artists. SL offers a creative outlet that they may not otherwise have in RL. Some of the barriers are removed, such as not needing expensive equipment."

And will Enigmatic Artworks be expanding further at some point? "To tell you the truth, my dream is to have an art campus now," said Amie. "Several galleries specializing in different mediums, lectures, classes, symposiums. It's a dream – for now though I am happy with this.”

Art lovers, be sure to stop by Enigmatic Artworks by December 2 to see the Infamy-themed exhibition, and two special photography exhibits: Gorean Culture, by Lana Miranda, and Amie’s own exhibit documenting the sim’s construction.
